Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is an indicator of ovarian functional reserve

چکیده

Under the influence of the AMH formed in the Sertoli cells, the Mullerian ducts degenerate in male fetuses. This leads to the normal development of the male genitals. Female fetuses do not have AMH, and so develop the internal female genital organs. In women, at the onset of puberty AMH, like inhibin B, is formed by the granulosa cells of the maturing ovarian follicle, but not by the primordial follicles and also not by the antral follicles under direct FSH regulation in the final stage of follicular growth. AMH is the biological regulator of folliculogenesis and of primordial follicular rupture. It reduces the rate of follicle conversion from the primordial to the growing stage and regulates follicle growth by inhibiting FSH-induced conversion from the early to the late stage (Fig. 1) [1].

Evaluation of Ovarian Reserve by Measurement of the Serum Levels of Anti-Mullerian Hormone and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone in Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection Cycles

Background It is important to evaluate ovarian reserves prior to intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment. The aim of this study is to determine the accuracy of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) as a marker for ovarian reserve and to compare it with day-3 serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. MaterialsAndMethods In this analytic, corss-sectional study, sequential sampling was don...

Pnm-5: Anti-Mullerian Hormone in The Assessment and follow up of Cancer in Young Females

Background The impact of cancer therapy on the reproductive potential of patients is increasingly recognized because survival rates of patients have clearly improved in recent years. The study stressed the use of AMH may allow better prediction of chemotherapy-related risk to further fertility. MaterialsAndMethods A narrative review was performed within articles published at PubMed, Elsevier, S...

P-75: Role of Anti-Mullerian Hormone in Prediction of Assisted Reproductive Technology Outcomes

Background: Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) has been suggested as a marker of ovarian reserve and predictor of ovarian response to controlled ovarian hyper stimulation. The aim of this study is to determine the role of AMH in prediction of success ART cycles in patients with normal FSH serum levels. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study included 80 infertile women under 4o years, wh...

Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Anti-Mullerian Hormone Among Fertile and Infertile Women in Ile-ife, Nigeria: is There a Difference?

Background Reduced ovarian reserve has been known to predict poor ovarian response and poor success rates in infertile women undergoing assisted reproductive technology. Ovarian reserve also decreases with age but the rate of decline defers from a woman to another. The aim of this study was to detect any difference in ovarian reserve as measured by basal serum FSH and AMH between matched cohort...

Comparison of anti-mullerian hormone level in non-endometriotic benign ovarian cyst before and after laparoscopic cystectomy

BACKGROUND Benign ovarian cysts are common among both pre- and postmenstrual women. Surgical intervention for excision of an ovarian cyst is mandated when symptomatic, or chance for malignancy is high. The damaging effect of surgical ovarian cystectomy on ovarian reserve is debated in recent studies. OBJECTIVE In the present study we investigated serum level of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) as...

Age-Specific Serum Anti-Mullerian Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone Concentrations in Infertile Iranian Women

Background Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is secreted by the granulosa cells of growing follicles during the primary to large antral follicle stages. Abnormal levels of AMH and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) may indicate a woman’s diminished ability or inability to conceive. Our aim is to investigate the changes in serum AMH and FSH concentrations at different age groups and its correlation w...
